WOODSTOCK — Emergency crews are at the scene of a plane crash off County Road.
The crash happened Sunday, but wasn’t discovered until today, said an emergency dispatcher with Quinebaug Valley Mutual Aid. He said there are no fatalities; the state police said there are no injuries.
The pilot notified the Federal Aviation Administration Monday, said Dwayne Gardner, spokesman with the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. The FAA alerted the state police and the local fire department, who notified the DEEP.
The crash happened in a corn field at Coatney Hill Farm, 173 Coatney Hill Road, but there apparently was no fuel spill, Gardner said.
Once the National Transportation Safety Board releases the scene — likely Tuesday — the wing will be emptied of fuel and the plane will be removed, he said.
The corn may be harvested first, he said.
