HARTFORD — Crashes on both I-84 and I-91 have been holding up city-bound traffic during the Friday-morning commute.

A tractor trailer truck overturned on I-91 north in the Wallingford/Meriden area, prompting police to close two lanes. Traffic was backed up for miles.

There also were two multi-vehicle crashes on I-84 west. A three-vehicle crash between exits 64 and 63 in Manchester, near the Vernon line, happened about 8 a.m. The scene was cleared by 8:40 a.m., according to an alert from the state Department of Transportation.

An earlier crash on I-84 west in East Hartford also involved three vehicles. That crash, which happened between exits 55 and 54, was cleared by 8:30 a.m.

The extent of injuries wasn’t clear.
