New startling and sad details are coming out of the investigation into the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.
Hartford Courant sources have revealed specifics about what happened that morning, both in the hours before Adam Lanza got to the school, and in the moments during and after his deadly rampage.
Included is information of evidence that shows Lanza shot his mother four times with a rifle and left the weapon pressed to her body.
One of the most telling details of how terrorized students and staff members must have been is that a school secretary and nurse stayed hidden in a closet in the principal’s office for hours even as state police came in and used the office as a command center.
New information from Courant sources also shows state police who were in the area rushed to the school to help local responders.
Troopers found some children hurt but still alive in the bathroom of Lauren Rousseau’s class. They ran, carrying the students to a waiting cruiser that sped to Danbury hospital. The children did not survive.
